Assurance of Video Conference Services with Combination of Weighted Fair Queueing Scheduling Discipline and Low Latency Queue

چکیده
The need for improved network traffic and bandwidth management becomes more and more urgent as real time applications begin to coexist within current shared infrastructure. Recent developments within the research community and within commercial products provide numerous technologies that may be applied as solutions. The most popular are Differentiated Services (DiffServ) with numerous different scheduling disciplines. Weighted Fair Queueing (WFQ) offers fair queueing that divides the available bandwidth between flows of traffic based on weights. Each flow is associated with an independent queue assigned with a weight to ensure that important traffic gets higher priority over less important traffic. It is established, that in times of congestion WFQ is not capable to implement differentiation of services, so in this paper we combine Weighted Fair Queueing (WFQ) and LLQ (Low Latency Queue) scheduling disciplines to ensure the Quality of Service (QoS) for high priority bursty Video conferencing, Voice and Data services at the same time.

High Performance DiffServ Mechanism for Routers and Switches: Packet Arrival Rate Based Queue Management for Class Based Scheduling
This paper introduces a technique for applying packet arrival rate based queue management to class based scheduling algorithms. This enables a DiffServ architecture with very low packet latency, loss, and high link utilisation. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed technique outperforms the current weighted random early drop (WRED) and weighted fair queue (WFQ) architecture.
متن کاملA combined low Latency and Weighted Fair Queuing based Scheduling of an input-Queued Switch
Input queuing has become dominant and popular building blocks for high speed crossbar switches with many ports and fast line rates because they require minimum speed-up of memory bandwidth. Input Queued switches with finite Virtual Output Queues guarantees QoS performance in terms of throughput and average delay. A switch performs two functions Queuing and Scheduling. Queue Management algorithm...
متن کاملQuality of Service Driven Packet Scheduling Disciplines for Real-time Applications: Looking Beyond F - INFOCOM '99. Eighteenth Annual Joint Conference of the IEEE Computer and Communications Societies
In this paper we focus on real-time scheduling of “soft” realtime data services such as multimedia data, MPEG video streaming and IP telephony, which can tolerate a small degree of loss or delay. We argue that network operators and service providers should be able to select from a range of Quality of Service objectives, including maximizing the number of customers receiving good service. Furthe...
متن کاملImpact of Flow Control on Quality of Service Driven Packet Scheduling Disciplines - Control Applications, 1999. Proceedings of the 1999 IEEE International Conference on
In this paper we investigate the interaction between window based flow control and a recently proposed packet scheduling discipline designed for real-time services. The scheduling discipline, called the Dual Queue discipline, has been shown to provide greater flexibility than other scheduling disciplines such as fair queueing. However, its performance on non real-time services has not heen prev...
متن کاملPerformance Analysis of Queuing Disciplines for Difference Services Using OPNET Tool
Now a day Internet only provides Best Effort Service. Traffic is processed as earliest as possible, but there is no assurance of timelines or real delivery. With the fast transformation of the Internet into a commercial infrastructure, demands for service quality have quickly developed. People of the current world are very much dependent on various network services like VOIP, Videoconferencing ...
